Patapon (psp)

Summary : Rythmic real time strategy (think dance revo meets starcraft), press 4 buttons in sequence to make the little stick tribemen with big eyes( I swear I drew those when I was a wee toddler) attack, defend, run, etc. Help them find the IT to regain their former glory and defeat their mortal enemies, the zigotons.

What I like about the game : They're cute little sticks that chant and say things like "tayo tayo tayo!" and "love baby" (at least that's what I thought it was) when they reach 10 combos and hit "fever mode". Aside from the unique gameplay from the makers of Loco Roco game, they feature collectible materials to make stronger patapons and better weapons, making it sorta RPG. The part where you collect materials to make stronger tribemen sticks alone is enough to suck you in.

What I don't like about the game : The game hinted about "making your patapons stronger" in-between loading times, and I only found out about how to really do it halfway through the game. I had to start over, because the materials I collected from bosses were apparently crap ^_^ And I had help from gamefaqs. Stronger patapons are essential for defeating the game!

Final Verdict : Read through any walkthrough 1st, and you skip the frustration part. Item collecting can be confusing, but well worth it when you have a massive army of stickmen-tribemen-chanting creatures hurling arrows and spears like no tomorrow ^_^
